Project Life “Retro”: May Twenty Twelve

By |May 23rd, 2014|crafts, Photography|

MAY 2012 Project Life (1 of 16)

Yup, May 2012 was a good one. I used a calendar on the front page to keep track of all of awesomeness. The biggest highlight was getting to stand by my sister’s side as she said “I do”. Add in business school prom and an amazing long weekend in NYC and you get a lot of good memories packed in a few pages.

I used a lot of washi and stamps this month. The “Rad” stamp is my absolute favorite. I have to contain myself from over-stampage when I get that thing inked up! I bought it along with some of the others from one of my favorite bloggers, Elise of enJOY it. She no longer sells them but has other amazing things in her shop and on her blog.

“Retro” Project Life

By |May 20th, 2014|crafts, Life, Photography, Uncategorized|

I’m still working on my 2012 Project life album which officially puts me at two years behind in the scrap-booking world. So the Project Life posts you see on here are all “Retro”. It sounds better than “really late”. I’ve accepted the fact that I will probably never be the person who documents each week as it is happening. I tried it that way at first, but would get frustrated if I missed a week and if I was super busy it turned into a chore instead of something I enjoyed. So instead of a weekly requirement, I use Project Life as a fun and easy format to document each year. I have a binder for each year with a few spreads per month, depending on how much was going on.  So here it is:

 <<Retro April, 2012>>

Most of the card inserts are from the Blush Project Life kit. I also like to use paper souvenirs as inserts where I can. For this spread I used Billy Elliott tickets, the Stagecoach program and even a beer label I saved from Beerfest.  For both Stagecoach and Coachella they sent a rub on sticker with the tickets which I spread over three cards to make the large headings you see above and below. For the Beerfest title card, I used temporary tattoos of beer companies that they gave out and applied them to paper to make a collage.

Moroccin’ photo album

Morocco Album-20

Woohoo! I finally got my Morocco album delivered! Aaaannd it only took 7 months. That may seem like a long time to you go getters, but in my world anything under a year is impressive. It takes me forever to put together vacation albums!! On top of my normal procrastination habit I also take a lot of photos on trips. I’m glad that I capture so much, but it takes forever to filter through them all. Then I have to put them together and add in all the fun notes and stories.  You can read about my travel note process here. Then to top it all of I then somehow always manage to delete hours of unsaved work. It’s a tough process, but when the hair pulling is done and the package shows up on my step, it’s all worth it.

I love having these albums to remember my favorite adventures.  For the past 6 years I’ve  made Shutterfly 8 x 11 album for every international trip I go on. They are usually around 50 pages, depending on how long the trip was. Good quality photo books can be a little pricey but Shutterfly always has great coupons so I just wait to click submit until I get a good deal. Once I get them they sit neatly together on a bookshelf until I pull one down to relive the fun.  Here are a few of my favorite pages from my Morocoo album.
