I’ve never been a huge fan of New Year’s Resolutions. They always seem to get broken, and by February the wait for a treadmill at the gym is miraculously gone.

Plus, I like to think that I can make changes in my life at any time of year. But let’s be honest, everyone needs a little motivational kick in the butt sometimes, and if it takes a new year to do it, then bring it on!

So here I am, starting a blog on January 1, 2012.  If by February I am still blogging, good for me. If by December I am still blogging? It will be a Christmas miracle.

But one resolution was just not enough- so I am also resolving against soda in 2012. Farewell Diet Coke- you have been a kind and trusty companion, and you will be missed dearly. Jack Daniels just won’t be the same without you. (More on that later).

In addition to my two daunting resolutions, I decided to come up with a list of 12 in ’12.  I enlisted the help of the boyfriend and together we came up with a list of fun and achievable things to do this year:

12 Home Cooked Meals: We love to cook and are going to tackle 12 new and different recipes this year.

11 New Coffee Shops: Confession- I go to Coffee Bean 4 times a week, Starbucks 2 times a week and Peet’s once a week .. yes that means EVERY day! Although I love my corporate coffee- we have decided to branch off and try some new coffee locales this year.

10 Epic Photos: Photography has become a passion and hobby for both of us- and we are committing to getting ten perfect photographs to commemorate the year (along with the hundreds of subpar yet equally entertaining ones).

9 Hikes: Self explanatory: Us + Mountains x 9.

8 New Restaurants: We go out to eat a lot, but are were creatures of habit.

7 Movie Dates: This one should be pretty easy, but we both love a good flick, and date nights are the best!

6 Yoga Instructors: We both love yoga and are excited to try some new instructors this year.

5 Performances: This was our catchall for concerts/plays/etc.

4 Crafts: I am a big crafter and will definitely exceed this quota but we decided that as a couple we will do four projects this year.

3 Outdoor Adventures: Camping, horse back riding, paddle boarding? TBD…

2 Museums: Cultural pursuits.

1 Dinner Party: The fancy kind.

Love and Candy,
