I found these awesome spray paint metallics at the hardware store and decided to do a little project.

metallic spray paint and paintbrush

Spray paint is such a fun, easy, and inexpensive way to give items a totally new look. I also used a paint brush to even out paint if needed and some plastic covering to protect surrounding items from the spray.

I looked around for some items to metallize (yes, that is a real word) and found this coral I got in Maui in January. I had been wanting to do some sort of craft with it but once out of the water, the natural colors were uneven and well, not too attractive! Perfect. I also picked a black wood frame from my room and thought I would give that a try as well. I laid everything out on my balcony and did some test spraying.

And then- I went for it!

I was a little worried that the porous coral would be hard to spray paint but it worked well and I liked that the holes showed through so you could still see what it was.

I let each side dry for about 45 minutes so the entire project was super quick and fun. And the results?

D I am on the hunt for a cute small glass jar or vase to display the coral in. Will share the final results!

Love and Candy,
