Project 22/52: a comfy kimono

When it comes to sewing I’m somewhere between novice and beginner. I can sew a mean straight stitch or hem, but making clothing is a whole new ball game. Let’s just say I’m not signing up for Project Runway anytime soon! Even though I have a long way to go, I’m always on the lookout for fun sewing projects to stretch my skills. When I came across this Kimono tutorial by Leanne Barlow, I fell in love. So cute and she has a way of breaking things down so even I can follow along. I followed her instructions verbatim with a few minor changes. Instead of silk fabric I used a super soft knit I already had lying around. I’m happy with the way it turned out but the stretch definitely increased the difficulty level. I also don’t own a rolled hem foot so instead I did my own double hem. It took a bit longer and might not be as clean, but for my first clothing project I’ll call it a success. This is my new go to travel outfit. So comfy. Thanks Leann for the great tutorial and inspiration!
